Later this year, Microsoft plans to roll out commercial versions of Windows 8, the first time the company's operating system has been designed to work on desktop computers as well as tablet devices that people control with their fingers. Microsoft is counting on Windows 8 to help the company draw the attention of consumers and software designers away from Apple, Google Inc. and other companies that have grabbed market share in mobile phones, tablets and desktops.

Microsoft in September released an early version of Windows 8 to software developers, and at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona Wednesday previewed new features of an updated version that consumers were allowed to start downloading immediately. They include an updated version of its Internet Explorer Web browser and a single-password sign-on to allow people to access their email, address books and documents across a range of Windows-powered computers and mobile phones. Microsoft is hoping this all in one access will help their operating system gain market share with in the mobile and tablet industry but only time will tell.

iPad 3 possibly unveiled on March 7th?

On March 7th, Apple will be hosting a product event in San Francisco where it is rumored to be releasing the iPad 3. The new iPad will have a high definition display, a faster processor,and work with faster wireless internet networks. According to sources, the new device will have a higher resolution and videos can load and buffer faster because of its additional graphics processor. Although the release of this device has not been confirmed by Apple, it has already started gaining the needed attention. he new iPad will also give devices such as Android phones, which have high resolution displays and fast processors, a run for their money.The most important factor when accessing this new device will whether it is actually an improvment in comparison to the iPad 2.

Roll Out the Red Carpet The Academy Awards are almost here! Who will be the best dressed? Will anyone beat Nicki Minaj's "unique" outfit from the Grammys? Lets hope not, but let's hope yes to the Muppet winning an Oscar.

The first awards were presented on May 16, 1929, at a private brunch at the Hollywood Roosevelt Holt with an audience of about 270 people. The post Academy Awards party was held at the Mayfair Hotel. The cost of guest tickets for that night's ceremony was $5. Fifteen statuettes were awarded, honoring artists, directors and other personalities of the film making industry of the time for their works during the 1927 – 1928 period. Today the very formal ceremony at which the Gold Oscars are presented is the most prominent award ceremonies in the world, and is televised live in more than 100 countries annually! Billy Crystal, veteran of film, television, the Great White Way and, of course, the Oscar stage, returns to host the Academy Awards. In two more days, the industry welcomes another guest to the video game hardware party, as Sony launches the PlayStation Vita handheld this Wednesday in the U.S.

Its clean, polished design makes the Vita look every bit the cutting-edge gadget, and in the hands it feels just as a high-end gaming portable should: cool and compact. But in an era where smartphones and tablets are already hugely popular, power and good looks are no longer enough. If the Vita is going to succeed it needs to offer distinctive features and games for a range of tastes and budgets.

It certainly has the former. While smartphones are packing more and more features, the one thing that's only gotten worse is the battery life on these devices. The problem is exacerbated by bigger screens, faster processors, and 4G LTE, which has proven to be a major drain. Smart phones seem to be limitless in what they can do, but there short battery life either turns a user into a "plug junkie" or makes them limit there use. Samsung Electronics hopes to solve the battery issue for customers by setting a goal that smartphones coming out this year can last all day under average to moderately heavy use.

Samsung passed Apple in smartphone shipments and sales, thanks in big part to its Galaxy S II flagship phone. This is still a big step for Samsung if they want to retain their market share and remain on top so differentiating their product with more battery life then the competition seems to be ideal. According to a recent survey, about 75% of the participants admitted to using their cell phones while in the bathroom. The survey, "IT in the Toilet" was conducted by 11Mark, a Marketing company. 1,000 Americans were surveyed and asked about their bathroom cell phone habits. Android users were the most likely to use their phones in the bathroom, followed by Blackberry and iPhone users. According to the survey, 63% of the participants have received a call while using the bathroom, and 41% have placed a call. Blackberry users stated they used the bathroom while talking the most. Android and iPhone users were most likely to use social networking sites or use an app while in the bathroom. The survey also indicated that more men than women stated that they couldn't go to the bathroom without their device. Although not part of the survey, it's easy to understand how and why users drop their phones in the toilet.

Online and high-tech companies like Google, Wikipedia, and Reddit triggered an avalanche of Internet clicks to force Congress to shelve legislation that would curb online piracy. This screen shot shows the blacked-out Wikipedia website, announcing a 24-hour protest against proposed legislation in the U.S. Congress, intended to protect intellectual property that critics say could facilitate censorship, referred to as the "Stop Online Piracy Act," aka "SOPA."

Although it was a small victory the war rages on with trails are still pending for some of the industries most notorious "pirates," like WikiLeak founder Julian Assange who is set to start his trail today. It is an interesting time in the U.S. where looming elections have a strong influence on politicians decision making. Only time will tell the out come of these events, but if there is one thing that is for sure it's that nothing is for sure.

Google's New Policies

Last week, Google changed its privacy policy. According to Google, the changes would improve people's experiences of using the Google services. New information is not being collected, but Google is promising that its new policies condenses most of the current policies. Although this is true, users' browsing interest and history, including those on Youtube can be combined and used for other services. Going in effect March 1st, the browsing history of signed-in users can be used for Ads and Marketing purposes. What exactly the new policy will accomplish is not certain, but one this is. Google will now have the right to use users' browsing history for Marketing purposes, something Google May very well have been doing from the get-go.

Mega Lawsuit

Megaupload could be in mega trouble as Federal prosecutors who accuse file-sharing site Megaupload of being a hotbed of digital piracy, and also claims the company has denied copyright holders an estimated $500 million and that those indicted have earned roughly $175 million in the process.

The letter, submitted Friday in the Eastern District of Virginia, says that government investigators have finished executing search warrants at centers where Megaupload and MegaVideo files are stored. According to the indictment filed Megaupload has claimed more than 180 million registered users in its 5-year existence. While some users say they used the site to look for movies, television shows and other material that may be copyrighted, numerous others have complained that they've lost access to personal and professional materials stored there. It is just one of those situations where a few bad apples have ruined it for everyone. The company said it's not aware of why the government suggested February 2 as the day files could be deleted.

Any and all users of this site are advised to get their files off of the website as soon as possible. While removing your files will not permanently delete them from the site (or save you from possible leagle action of uploading copyrighted material), it will provide users who use the site the way it was intended with backups of their files.

Apple iBooks

After updating its software last week, Apple launched the iBooks textbook feature. The iBooks textbook feature will allow students to create study cards by using text and diagrams which students can touch and drag on the screen. Apple also created the iBook Author which gives its users the ability to create their own textbooks. Unfortunately, there have been concerns about the owner resources created using the software(s) and the user agreements. Even though the user has the opportunity to create things using the software, which is free of charge, Apple has ownership over the products created because the user will be creating such products on an Apple app.

This creation seems like a big improvement for students and other users, but what are the implications on textbook stores, and and other retailers who offer books? As far as the ownership rights to the resources created, how will this affect users who wish to share their work with others? These questions linger in our mind, and we're sure Apple has answers for them.

The Internet as we know it could all change if corporations get their way and a censorship is placed on the World Wide Web through the S.O.P.A. bill (Stop Online Piracy Act). Thousands of people, including the Facebook and Google, have opposed the web censorship bill, saying it would effectively censor the web and place unfair demands on content providers. A few infringing links would be enough to block a site completely and put the person who posted in jail for up to 5 years, even for a first offense.

For several months a diverse variety of online groups and internet activists have been assembling and publishing lists of big-name companies who have voiced support for SOPA. They’re calling on consumers to boycott their goods and services, a strategy that has foand increasing resonance as the bill approaches a vote and the negative press surrounding it at a boiling point. Today marked the day of several big name websites including Wikipedia, and Redit that blacked out there site in protest to show how much a day on the web without them hurts. The ripple effect of a government controlled internet that could follow if the S.O.P.A. or P.I.P.A. (Protect IP Act) are forced through congress.

If this sounds like something you would like to speak out against please let your voice be heard and register on Google to have a letter sent to your local congressmen to show your dissatisfaction of this bill.

Samsung Going for a Piece of Apple's Pie

Let the tablet competition begin!! The iPhone set the standard for smart phones, and cell phone companies have done their best to imamate it, and now the iPad has created a similar splash in the technology world. Tech savvy consumers knew it would only be a matter of time until competitors started popping up on the tablet scene, but much like the early touch phones that tried to emulate the iPhone’s swagger, they came and went before anyone noticed. After a few years of Apple raking in the cash with little competition Google finally caught up when it released the Android OS.

With the release of the Galaxy Tab Samsung is looking set a new standard for tablets. Priced at $399 for the 16GB model (or $499 for 32GB), it includes Android HoneycomTb 3.2, and a dual-core 1.2GHz processor, a substantial jump up from the single 1GHz processor in the original Galaxy Tab. Android is the new Windows for operating systems on mobile phones and Apple is well.. still Apple, smaller market but high prices with high quality equal high profits. Whether the Galaxy Tab will run Android’s latest OS system “Ice Cream Sandwich” operating system (see previous posts for more on Ice Cream Sandwhich) remains unknown but what is known is that this high quality piece of technology is going for a piece of Apple’s pie in the tablet industry, but are you hungry for it?

Research In Motion (RIM) has finally launched its own music service which will be playing through the BBM feature. The service allows users to create a music profile and later add songs which can be used with friends on BBM. The service also allows users to sync their music to their phones or access the music through a media card. This service would be ideal if all your friends were able to download the app which would create a bigger array of music choices. The only tricky part: Blackberrys are known for their abilities to be used in a corporate setting...CEOs listening to music before the meeting??? With other companies already ahead in the music sharing business, hopefully RIM can catch up.

Pop a soda can open, pop someone in the face??? According to a recent study, there is a "strong association" between violence and drinking soda, although soda might not be a direct cause of aggression. Researchers from Harvard School of Public Health and the Department of Economics at the University of Vermont found a strong association between soft drinks and violence, due to the caffeine found in soda or an unknown third variable.

According to the findings, frequent soft drink consumption was associated with a point increase ranging from 9-15 in the probability of engaging in aggressive actions. Such relationship was referred to as a dose relationship. Lower doses of soda (under 14 cans) were noted with an increase in aggression.

The study also correlated soda drinking with a lack of proper diet. Consumers might not have key micronutrients found in healthier food, and in turn drink soda to compensate for low blood sugar which is linked to irritability or violence. Kids who are violent were also more likely to drink alcohol and smoke. Whether or not soda is correlated with an increase in violence, this study is sure to stimulate your brain and make you consider how it would affect you.

Google says its new OS Andriod 4.0 (aka Ice Cream Sandwich), “Is a complete rethink of Android's image and is part of a push to make the OS "Enchant me, Simplify My Life, and Make Me Awesome." Google emphasized that it has made multitasking "even easier and more visual" on Android 4.0, for example the Recent Apps button lets users jump instantly from one task to another using the list in the System Bar. The list pops up to show thumbnail images of apps used recently — tapping a thumbnail switches to the app, and flicking it away closes it.

Face unlock is another new feature where your phone literally scans your face to unlock it. For those on data plans Ice Cream Sandwich also features a new displays so you can see how much you've used over Wi-Fi or cellular. You can also see the amount of data used by each running application and warning levels can also be specified, as well as determining how much background data apps can use.

Remember when those super wide panoramic pictures were all the rage? Well now there back with the new update to the Android camera. ICS devices, and the newly announced Samsung Galaxy Nexus in particular, will have 1080p video, zero shutter lag, a new picture-stitching panorama mode, easier sharing and Instagram-esque filters. In the panorama mode, you can start taking the picture and then move the camera. The phone assembles the full range of continuous imagery into a single panoramic photo. The web browser is also much faster now and allows you to have up to 16 windows open at once! Plus you can now sync it with Google Chrome and the browser supports offline browsing. There's also a new NFC-based app called Android Bump, which allows two phones to exchange a wealth of information, just by holding them together.

Google hopes this new OS will be as pleasing to the masses as real ice cream sandwiches, and after only learning a small tidbit of the features to come, I would say they picked the right name.

Does the use of Facebook affect your brain size? The answer is...sort of. According to a study conducted by the University College in London, people who are more social on social tend to have larger amygdalae (a mass of gray matter deep within each cerebral hemisphere). People who are more social online have an increased size in parts of their brains which control emotions, the ability to read social cues, and memory. Researchers are still not certain if social network sites are responsible for these observations, and if there is a third variable contributing to these findings. Bottom line, there's a correlation between one's brain and the number of friends he or she has. These changes can be attributed to more social cues, etc. that are exchanged when people interact often, which might not hold true for people are not social.

What is Chime.in you ask? It's a combination of the activities that take place in the following social networking sites: Twitter, blogging, and Reddit. Although Chime.in has a similar interface to Twitter, it's considered an interest network. Certain features such as following, newsfeeds, and profile pages follow the current trend in social networking sites, but Chime.in also allows users to create "chimes" which is a combination of a facebook status and a blog entry. Chime.in allows users to control advertisements on their page, and even include their own ads to receiver 100% of the revenue. The site is also available via mobile phone apps. Could this be the next big trend? Only time will tell, but Chime.in has a lot of work to do if it intends to attract current Facebook and Twitter users.

IPAD 3?

Rumor has it that the iPad 3 has been sent to production. Apple's last release was the iPhone 4s...not the iPhone 5. The new iPad is rumored to be released in March of 2012 following the trend since the iPad 2 was released in March 2011. Another rumor: Apple will be releasing the iPad mini which will compete directly with Amazon's Kindle Fire which is retailed at $199. The mini...mini in price, not size...will be sold in the mid or high $200 range. This iPad is also rumored to be released in 2012. While the iPad mini would compete with the Kindle Fire, the iPad 3 will attract current iPad and Apple users, as well as other consumers. Since the iPad 2 was released with new features, it would be interesting to see what new features Apple can add to the iPad 3.

The iPhone 4S easily broke the iPhone 4's pre-order record of 600,000 handsets ordered in a single day thanks to help of new iPhone carriers Sprint and Verizon. The iPhone 4 launched on AT&T, Apple reported it sold 1.7 million devices in just over ten days. This year however, with the added help of new “Apple Trees” Sprint and Verizon, the company is on track to easily break that record. Apple announced more than one million iPhone 4S devices were pre-ordered for the first day of availability.

Apple, Sprint, Verizon and AT&T's websites all exceeded capacity at one point when the 4S went up for sale, defying analysts' expectations and this shows how apple's ability to diversify into other retailers after there exclusive rights contract with AT&T expired is cashing in. Apple has the highest selling smartphone in the U.S. in the iPhone 4, and the 4S looks to continue that trend against steep competition from devices like the Samsung Galaxy S2, Droid Bionic and the looming Galaxy Nexus Prime. Google will now be masking "hotspot" locations of owners of Wi-Fi. The locations according to Google are used to provide nearby attractions, shops or mapping routes. In order to help protect users, and to respect their privacy, Google has included an "opt-out" service which will allow an access point owner to opt out from having Google locate their device. The service is set to be released globally later in the fall. Consumers will be glad to know that their locations will be tracked by services such as Google, and that their browsing habits will not be transferred to other advertising outlets. Honda Pilot SUVs from the 2009-2011 model years have been recalled. Why? There is a possible defect in the stitching of the seat belts. According to reports, the seat belts might have incomplete stitchings which could cause the belts to break off from the anchor during a car accident, or at any other time. According to Honda, there have not been any reports of injuries or death as a result of the seat belt malfunctioning. Honda also recalled its 2006 CR-V model and its 2011 CR-Z model due to issues such as the power window master switch, and a defect concerning the gas engine. According to the FCC, pending zones for phone towers have to be authorized by the location's City Hall. Among requests to extend zoning for wireless facilities were requests to replace antennas. According to this research, cities were also denying other carriers from establishing wireless facilities on areas their residents appear to be using another carrier. Although the City Halls claim this is a way to reduce competition, it also affects consumers and their ability to receive good reception from their carrier. According to AT&T, one reason for the merger would be to provide better service to customers. With the remaining days left on the clock, the FCC has to make a crucial decision regarding the acquisition and bear the consequences for its effects on the market. No matter what decision they make, some people will be happy about it and some will not.

Wal-Mart and Amazon for iPad

Wal-Mart and Amazon have released a new video and book-reading services designed for the iPad but managed to bypass Apple's fees on content sales. Wal-Mart launched the service from Vudu, which relies on streaming video. The service works with no internet connection and streaming tools from Apple for the iPad. Amazon uses its Kindle Cloud Reader which is accessed through the web, and quite similar to that of Apple's and it allows readers to read stored books without an internet connection. Although companies are finding ways to avoid Apple's fees, would this have an effect on such companies in the long run? According to a recent study by TeleNav, U.S. mobile phone users over the age of 16 would rather give up exercise, shoes, toothbrushes, etc. over their cell phones. The survey asked more than 500 U.S. mobile phone users if they would give up their cell phones for a week over other things. Among the top things consumers would rather give up were exercise, shoes, caffeine, chocolate, and alcohol. Also according to the survey, iPhone users were more attached to their phone in comparison to Android and Blackberry users and were more likely to choose their cell phones over other things. This survey showed the loyalty of mobile users, but have any of them considered the effects of heavy phone usage? Apple also released an update to Apple TV which allows users to purchase tv shows and download them on other Apple devices. August 17th marks the date for Nokia and Microsoft's party in Cologne, Germany. Along with food, drinks, and music the party could also be the release party for Microsoft's Windows Phone Mango. Nokia's Mango aka "Sea Ray" resembles the Nokia N9 and was unofficially released to the public. If the phone is officially released to the public, it will be available to France, Germany, Italy, Spain, UK, and the Netherlands. AT&T set to reduce unlimited data

AT&T is set to reduce the amount of unlimited data its customers can use. Starting October 1st, AT&T will be reducing the data speed of smartphone users once their billing cycle indicates that they have ranked among the top 5% of the heaviest data users. The company suggests using the Wi-Fi option so there will be no additional traffic on the data network. San Fran Passes Cell Phone Law

People are more likely to use Google and other search engines to find answers to difficult questions rather than try to find the answers through existing knowledge. According to the Pew Research Center's Pew Internet Project, 35% of all adults use smartphones and 25% of smartphone owners use their devices to browse the Internet. According to the study, the Android phone is the most used, followed by the iPhone, and the Blackberry. Androids are said to be more popular among young adults and African Americans, while the iPhone and Blackberry is more popular among college graduates and those in higher income categories. Smartphones are more common among adults between the ages of 25-34. Further research shows that most users take full advantage of the features on their smartphones such as email, etc. and use those features frequently. Smartphones have proven to make our daily routine(s) more efficient. Although the findings stated in this project doesn't account all smartphone users, it can be inferred that smartphones are gaining a big target audience.What does your smartphone say about you?

Facebook and Google seem to be in a never ending struggle to keep their fan base. Google recently introduced Google+, causing Facebook users to transfer their identity to the new social networking site. Ironically, Google+ serves as an alternative to Facebook, using the same interface Facebook uses. How does this attract current Facebook users? It's human nature to gravitate towards something new and unexplored. How will Facebook make a change? Word on the street is that Google has a social networking site called Google+. YES, this is very true. Google decided to run a trial of the website today. According to The International Telecommunication Union, 4G is a network capable of download speeds of 100 megabits per second. With so many phone carriers claiming to operate on a 4G network, Representative Anna Eshoo from Palo Alto, California introduced a bill that would require companies to accurately define their 4G network. The Next Generation Wireless Disclosure Act would require all carriers to provide specific details about the speed, pricing, etc. about their 4G network. Sooner than later, carriers will actually need prove before they can claim they offer a 4G network. This act should be beneficial to consumers who wish to use the 4G network, but are confused due to a lack of information.

Microsoft Buys Skype

The Department of Justice approved the $8.5 billion acquisition of Skype by Microsoft. Skype will be a Microsoft division headed by Skype CEO Tony Bates and its services will be combined with other programs such as Lync, Outlook, and Xbox Live. Although Skype was bought by Ebay after its first 2 years, and then by a group of private investors 4 years later, the amount by Microsoft supersedes all other transactions. Apple's iCloud, set to launch in the UK later this year will not be launched anymore due it's music storage part set to launch in September in the US. The music storage part is set to launch in the first quarter in 2012. According to articles, negotiations with Apple about ensuring rights in the UK have started but still at an early stage. Music executives in the UK might be waiting to see how sales are affected in the US before they invest in the music storage part of the iCloud. Music executives might also be cautious because the iCloud would only display songs from signed artists. Hopefully the UK will soon join the wagon.

Google is launching a trial of its payment system in collaboration with Mastercard and Citibank. The payment system is set to open to consumers in the summer and expand across the country. The new payment system will be introduced first on the Google Nexus S 4G smartphone, connecting to only Mastercard Paypass channels. Consumers will be able to use a "single-tap" solution which allows consumers to pay with a tap of a button on their smartphone. Whether this concept will be accepted by retailers and consumers, it's still up for grabs. Would other companies such as Visa, etc. be willing to join this movement or would they be against it? Even if the Google wallet was launched in the summer, how would this affect the already giant success of a company called Google?

       You now have a recipe for a show...hopefully a good one. Although Ashton Kutcher is a comedian, similar to Charlie Sheen, viewers have grown accustomed to seeing Sheen on the screen. Viewers should not expect Kutcher to be the next Sheen in terms of comedy. A better way to write Kutcher into the show would be to make another character, not a Sheen replacement. That way, Sheen's influence on the show would not be lost and Kutcher would not be compared to Sheen by the media and by fans. Kutcher does have what it takes to boost the ratings of the show after Sheen left. Kutcher is funny, he's well known, and just the positive image the show needs. Whether the show will be as successful as it was when Sheen was the other man, only time and ratings will tell.

Whether you like basketball or not, one thing is certain...you love the Bulls for being the in the NBA finals this year. The Bulls have not been in the Eastern Conference Finals since 1998. As a Bulls supporter, I'd personally like to say I'm proud of the Bulls. I'm pretty sure other Chicago sports' fans would most likely agree with me on this. Just seeing the Bulls during the finals is good enough to put a smile on any Chicago sports' fan's face...winning the championship, why that would just be icing on the already gorgeous cake. A sense of pride has swelled up in the hearts of all Bulls' supporters, and if for some reason the Bulls indeed can not handle the Heat, we'll all know they put up a good fight. Winning, however...would be epic.

1998 was the last time the Chicago Bulls have been in the finals, in hopes of winning a championship ring. All attention should be given to the Bulls correct? Wrong! A decision most Chicagoan sports fans deem unfair has been made. The decision will affect the Bulls game which was supposed to air tonight. The game has been postponed to Sunday at the United Center. I'm sure by now you're asking who this bigger force is that pushed the Bulls out of their rightful game spot. It's none other than Oprah. Yes, Oprah Winfrey has taken over the United Center from Monday night until Tuesday to tape her last farewell show(s). Rumors of the guest list include Beyonce, Usher, and other celebrities. No one is quite sure of what to expect during the taping of the show, but come May 23rd and 24th when the show airs...we will be amazed. Once again, Oprah has proven that she's a force to be reckoned with in Chicago.

Samsung and Acer will begin selling notebook PCs running on Google's Chrome Operating System in June. The notebooks or Chromebooks will be sold starting June 15th on Amazon.com and Best Buy. The computers will be sold in different countries including the U.K., Italy, Spain, etc. The computers will also be sold via subscription for businesses, schools, etc. for as low as $28 per business user and will be sold directly from Google. What makes this notebook different from other notebooks? All programs on the Chromebooks are web-based, files can be shared through a link, it can run on battery for up to a day without the need to charge it. The Chromebook will also feature optional 3G and no anti-virus will be needed due to the many layers of security. Come June 15th, the Chromebooks will officially enter the market, and hopefully holds its ground when competing with the Ipad, etc.

Blackberry Playbook

The Blackberry Playbook might have what it takes to smoke out the Apple Ipad...just maybe. The Playbook runs quite fast with its 1GHZ Texas Instrument processor and 1GB of RAM. The Playbook also runs on Adobe Flash, which allows for faster videos. Both gadgets cost about the same, so consumers will not have to worry about price being a determining factor.The major difference between the Ipad and the Playbook is that the Playbook doesn't have a 3G OR 4G model, nor does it have a syncing client( i.e. blackberry desktop manager). The apps might also not be up to par with the Ipad. Given these pros and cons, it will be interesting to see which gadget does better after being in the market for a long period of time. The Ipad is already on its second series, giving it a competitive edge, but Blackberry could soon decide to create another Playbook that will be an even bigger competition to the Ipad.

Donald Trump has been making claims regarding President Obama's birthplace. Some consider it a publicity stunt, while others might think Trump has a valid reason since he is considering running for Obama's position in 2012. Regardless of the reason, Jerry Seinfeld is not too happy. Seinfeld reportedly cancelled his appearance at a benefit for Trump's Eric Trump Foundation due to Trump's recent inquiries. Trump issued a letter addressing Seinfeld's decision, and claiming that he did not pull out of Seinfeld's terrible show, Marriage Ref. You be the judge: Is Trump just seeking attention to boost his ratings in the polls OR is this just how Trump is and we have to deal with it?

Ever meet people who never answer their calls or answer their texts, but always have time to hop on Twitter or Facebook to post statuses, etc? Yes we all know people like that. First texting seem to be the alternative to placing calls. Everyone now had the option to reduce communication with people they weren’t too fond of. The invention of social networking sites such as Facebook has created a new lifeline for people. Such sites allow people from different location to communicate, and in some cases, reunite after years of not speaking to each other. The problem arises when users begin to treat such sites as their personal diary, forgetting that thousands of people can view their profile. Rather than telling close friends how their day was or issues they’re dealing with, users are getting more comfortable with the idea of alerting their whole list of “friends” on social networking sites. Reality has been shifted to social networking sites where people take everything they see or read to be the truth. Whatever happened to calling? At this point, texting would even be more tolerable than Facebooking or Tweeting your thoughts. Just pick up your phone (preferably attached to your YUBZ Retro Handset) and make that call. Promise someone will be waiting for your call.

After 25 seasons, Oprah will be leaving Harpo Studios in May. Rosie O’Donnell will be moving into Harpo Studios to tape her new daytime talk-show which will air in the fall on OWN (The Oprah Winfrey Network). Viewers of the Oprah Winfrey Show will be glad to know the space will be occupied by another celebrity. O’Donnell will be the newest celebrity in Chicago, giving her much publicity. Hopefully it’s enough to attract viewers to watch her show. Whether or not the show will be as successful as Oprah’s, only ratings will tell but we can all expect the Harpo Studios to be buzzing again with activities.

Now that you’ve stopped laughing and gotten that look off your face, he seriously wants an intern. According to Sheen, he wants an intern that is hardworking, creative, resourceful, and social media savvy. Why Sheen would want an intern when he single-handedly attained 1 million followers on Twitter in the shortest amount of time is very confusing. It’s interesting to think of what an intern could do for Sheen since he has a bad standing with the public. Whether this idea will prosper or not is unknown, but the 50 finalists (out of the 74, 040 applicants) are sure to get their 15 minutes of fame. The winner is sure to receive plenty of publicity for exhibiting enough tigerblood to become the champion and join team winning. Although the application deadline was March 11^th, the 50 finalists are giving their all to become Sheen’s intern. Could this be another publicity stunt by Sheen or is he really serious? Only time and Sheen will tell.

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is being forced to review air passenger screening procedures for young children. Selena Drexel, mother of a 6 year old girl, states that the family was in the New Orleans Airport when the incident occurred. After posting the video on Youtube, Drexel and her husband claimed that the TSA agent who patted down their daughter was too aggressive. The video showed the TSA agent inspecting around the waistline of the girl, a normal procedure. According to Drexel, parents strive to teach their children the importance of personal space and not being touched inappropriately, but a procedure such as the pat down permits people to touch children inappropriately. You be the judge: Was this a pat down or a rub down???

The MLB Fan Cave, formed by Major League Baseball will be airing episodes from the Fan Cave during the entire 2011 MLB season. The winner, Mike O’Hara will stay in the Fan Cave starting opening day, along with Ryan Wagner. Both will watch all 2, 430 regular season games plus every Postseason game while documenting their experience and their viewpoints about baseball and pop culture on Facebook, Twitter, and the Fan Cave blog. They will also make regular visits on the MLB network.

The Fan Cave was built by Paulie Dimeo along with his team from the Extreme Makeover Home Edition. Special shout out to Paulie for getting us involved in this event.

The Fan Cave is located on the corner of 4^th and Broadway, Manhattan, New York. The Cave has 32 14- foot windows which allow fans on the street to see every move Mike and Ryan will be making. YUBZ handsets will be placed in the Cave, and also featured in the videos made by Mike and Ryan. So stay tuned to the MLB network and be on the lookout for YUBZ products.

The Federal Government is shutting down. Sounds crazy doesn't it? Since the government is still operating without a long-term spending bill and lawmakers have not been able to make a deal, the government has decided to shut down. Lawmakers have managed to make 6 short-term bills, but the Republicans and Democrats are still billions of dollars apart on spending cuts.

What does this mean for Americans? The economy could suffer even more. The only services provided by the government would be services from the FBI, Firefighters, etc. Workers will not be payed, businesses might not be opened, social security might be delayed, all spending by the government will be minimized. By Friday, hopefully a short-term bill can be passed that will cover the spending, but if not...we will all say whaaat??? How would this shutdown affect you?

The good boy turned bad is back at it again. After his fight with ex-girlfriend, Rihanna, Chirs Brown became public enemy number 1. Rihanna's career soared while Chris was taken out of the limelight. After apologizing many times, Chris slowly made his way back into the spotlight with smash hits such as Dueces, and Yeah 3x. Days before his anticipated album, F.A.M.E, dropped Chris had an emotional meltdown back stage after his appearance on Good Morning America. His reason for the anger? He was being questioned about Rihanna. Sure Chris had every reason to be angry, but surprisingly his fans still supported his music. The album sold more than 270,000 copies and reached the top of the Billboard charts the first week. Chris' career is finally back on track, and let's hope it stays that way. A moment of silence for the deceased Elizabeth Taylor. Taylor died earlier today, she was 79 years old. She was hospitalized 6 weeks ago due to a congestive heart failure. According to a statement from her publicist, her condition stabilized and it was believed that she would be returning home. Taylor died in Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles. Taylor is described as sexy, glamorous, fragile, always trailing media and fans. Aside from her many marriages, Taylor is known for donating to many charitable causes. She also founded the Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation. Taylor’s enthusiasm and sense of humor will surely be missed.

AT&T is back at it again. First the phone company became the sole distritubtor of the Iphone, aside from Apple. Now the company is on the move to buy T-mobile. Once the merger has been formed, AT&T will be the largest wireless carrier in the United States, demoting Verizon Wireless to second place. T-mobile customers are probably the most apprehensive about this merger. Will the merger include an increase in plans and services provided by T-mobile? Will T-mobile be offering phones such as the Iphone? Will T-mobile customers have more national coverage? This merger hopefully will bring nothing but good to T-mobile customers.

Oh The Weather Outside Is Wonderful

Could it really be? Is Chicago, the windy city, finally transitioning into spring? I don’t want to jinx anything, but I think it is. With 4 more days left until the official first day of spring, the weather has become significantly warmer. This increase of sunshine mixed with warmth will classify people as the innovators, the early adopters, or the laggards. The innovators have already pulled out their mini skirts, and sandals, ready to embrace the weather with open arms and open skin. The early adopters will be waiting until the weather reaches the 70s before pulling out their Capri pants…large sections of open skin could potentially lead to a summer cold. The laggards will wait until June, the point of no return, before they take the layers out of their closets. As the weather takes a turn for the better, try to identify which group you think you belong in. It can only get warmer from here...fingers crossed, sandals out!
