Today is the first official day of summer! Today will have the longest day and the shortest night of the year, known as the summer solstice. The solstice will take place at 7.09pm tonight, and the sun will be directly above the Pacific Ocean, west of Hawaii. The Earth will be rotating around the sun, our hemisphere will be receiving less sunlight, eventually leading up to the winter solstice in December. While we are all enjoying the hot weather and possibly the hottest day of the year, others are experiencing their winter solstice.
