Color Me Green.

Each year the Chicago River turns a shade of green, and not just any green...Irish green. The green is identical to the greens of Ireland from where it received the name The Emerald Isle. In 1961, Stephen Bailey came in contact with a plumber who had green paint all over his white overalls. The green dye was used originally to detect leaks in the river. This revelation was the birth of the green Chicago River which only occurs every year during the Saint Patrick's Day Parade. To all you unbelievers who say it's not possible because the river is orange and not green...you just didn't have the patience and the faith needed to see the leprechauns waving their magic wands and turning the obnoxious orange dye into a beautiful Irish green.  The river will be transformed at 10:00am on Saturday, March 12, 2011. The best place to see this wonderful creation will be between Columbus and Wabash.

Spidercar, Spidercar, Does whatever a spider can.

Creepy crawlers lead to a recall of 65,000 cars. Mazda recently recalled over 50,000 Mazda6 cars from the 2009-2010 model years in the U.S. and 15,000 vehicles from Canada, Mexico, and Puerto Rico. The yellow sac spiders seem to be finding their way into the vehicles and creating little snug homes for themselves. The real issue occurs when the spiders weave a web in a vent connected to the fuel system, which can clog up the ventilation. The pressure can lead to a crack, causing a fuel leakage that will result in a fire. According to Mazda, there have not been any reports of fires, injuries, or crashes in correlation to the spiders. Moral of the story? If you have a Mazda6 car, turn that bad boy in or else...you might be having more passengers in your vehicle than you intended for.

Let's get this Mardi Gras party started!

But before you do, do you really know what's you're celebrating? Mardi Gras can be traced to New Orleans. French-Canadian explorer, Jean Baptiste Le Moyne, landed on a plot of land south of New Orleans and called it Pointe due Mardi Gras. The first ever Mardi Gras was celebrated in 1703 in Fort Louis de la Mobile. Le Moyne established New Orleans in 1718 and by 1730, Mardi Gras was being celebrated openly. The King of Carnival was invented in 1872, along with the Mardi Gras colors, the song, and the flag. In 1875 Governor Warmoth of Louisiana signed the "Mardi Gras Act", making it a legal holiday in Louisiana. In the midst of all the festivities, please be sure to thank Sir Le Moyne for introducing what is one of the most colorful ethnic celebrations known to the world.

Emergency Red Phone

Our overall best seller is our Fire Red Retro Handset. What comes to mind when you think of a red phone? It is the emergency red phones that you may see on on your schools campus, in the stairwell of a burning building, or in a stuck elevator? Our customers usually refer to the red handset that Batman used while he's on call for EMERGENCIES! We recently found out that in 1963 a telegraph hot line was set up so that the White House could communicate during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Can you guess what color it was??... RED! Although the iconic red phone is now obsolete, it frequently pops up in fiction and political propaganda. What's your EMERGENCY!

HUMPDAY!

Happy Humpday! As the weekend draws nearer, many of us have probably made plans for some event. Take a step back into reality because there are still two more working days before the weekend begins. What exactly makes Wednesday any different in comparison to the other days of the working week? Sure it symbolizes the halfway mark, making people feel more optimistic about the remaining workdays, but in reality, isn’t it just another workday? Do we feel like we're halfway done with the week's work? Or are we just that excited about our fantastic plans for the weekend? If we could put more enthusiasm into BlueMonday maybe our week would never start off on a bad note.

Why so busy Apple???

Word on the street is that Apple will be releasing an Iphone 5. I'm just as confused as anyone out there. What possibly could an Iphone 5 have that has not been incorporated into the other Iphones or the Ipad? Rumor has it that the Iphone 5 might be white, and maybe even smaller than the older models. Perhaps the new Iphone will have more space, memory, better resolution, etc. Maybe the new Iphone will allow users to video chat with people who are not Iphone users. Maybe the video chat feature won't require wifi. If the new Iphone is released, will Verizon be offering the phone also? The new Iphone release date is still TBD, but seriously Apple...what else could you possibly do with an iphone? I can sit and list a plethora of questions that I would want to ask Apple, Steve Jobs, or just anyone who really knew the truth...but all I can do is speculate until the suspense has been eliminated. If an Iphone 5 is released, should we anticipate an Ipad 2? What would an Ipad 2 entail?
