Word on the street is that Google has a social networking site called Google+. YES, this is very true. Google decided to run a trial of the website today. Critics might compare this website to Facebook...and they're also right. Google+'s biggest influence is Facebook and hopefully after some more tweaks, it can be used as an alternative to Facebook. A side by side look at the interface used by Google+ is quite similar to that of Facebook. What exactly is Google hoping to accomplish if they're making another social network...a Facebook twin...to be a direct competition to Facebook. Google+ also has features such as the Hangout, which allows users to invite friends to the hangout room and have video chats. That can pose a threat to other companies such Skype, who relies heavily on video chats as a form of communication. More updates from Google regarding this social network to come in later this year.

What is 4G???
According to The International Telecommunication Union, 4G is a network capable of download speeds of 100 megabits per second. With so many phone carriers claiming to operate on a 4G network, Representative Anna Eshoo from Palo Alto, California introduced a bill that would require companies to accurately define their 4G network. The Next Generation Wireless Disclosure Act would require all carriers to provide specific details about the speed, pricing, etc. about their 4G network. Sooner than later, carriers will actually need prove before they can claim they offer a 4G network. This act should be beneficial to consumers who wish to use the 4G network, but are confused due to a lack of information.

Microsoft Buys Skype
The Department of Justice approved the $8.5 billion acquisition of Skype by Microsoft. Skype will be a Microsoft division headed by Skype CEO Tony Bates and its services will be combined with other programs such as Lync, Outlook, and Xbox Live. Although Skype was bought by Ebay after its first 2 years, and then by a group of private investors 4 years later, the amount by Microsoft supersedes all other transactions. What does this mean for Skype users? Will Microsoft make changes to the program that will affect current users? How will Microsoft incorporate Skype into their company? Would customers now be expected to pay for the once free services? Whatever Microsoft plans to accomplish with Skype seems to be the question everyone is asking.

The UK will not be floating on clouds this year.
Apple's iCloud, set to launch in the UK later this year will not be launched anymore due it's music storage part set to launch in September in the US. The music storage part is set to launch in the first quarter in 2012. According to articles, negotiations with Apple about ensuring rights in the UK have started but still at an early stage. Music executives in the UK might be waiting to see how sales are affected in the US before they invest in the music storage part of the iCloud. Music executives might also be cautious because the iCloud would only display songs from signed artists. Hopefully the UK will soon join the wagon.

Touch Motion Controls Yay or Nay?
Microsoft, the creator of the Kinect is expanding its horizon from just producing touch motion games for kid-oriented Disneyland Adventures to hardcore games. The games would be voice and motion controlled allowing the gamer to interact more with the game. How would hardcore gamers adjust to the new change if created? Would gamers have to purchase a Kinect also? Would this contradict the laziness associated with using a controller? Perhaps gamers would think of this as a way to get exercise while also playing their favorite game?

Cell Phone Radiation and Cancer
According to WHO (World Health Organization), the use of cell phones poses a possible risk of cancer. 31 scientists from 14 countries state there's a possible link between cell phones and a particular form of brain cancer. Cell phones have now been classified as carcinogens, similar to car exhaust, coffee, and pickled vegetables. Scientists are only stating that there's a possible correlation because many studies that debunk this proof involve subjects who have used cell phones for short periods of time and low amount of minutes. Whether you agree with these claims or not, please educate yourself on the causes and effects of cell phone radiation.

More Heat For Miami
Last night marked the beginning of the 2011 NBA Finals series in which the Miami Heat and the Dallas Mavericks went head to head in a rather intense quest to obtain the championship ring. The Heat won the first game, putting them in the lead for the ring. Any sports fan will know this same match up in 2006 resulted in the Heat beating the Mavericks for the ring. What has changed in the past 5 years? Both teams have acquired teammates who have influenced the teams' ability to get to this point in the season. Which team will win? No one truly knows the answer until the very end. The Heat has done a good job in securing a win so far,but will this lead carry through the series or is this where their bus stops?
